Since 2019, Druid City Ballet has had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Dance Honor Society Alabama for their Capstone Christmas. DHSA is a University of Alabama Department of Theatre and Dance organization that brings a Christmas performance each year to the residents of Capstone Village retirement community. In 2020, the two groups collaborated on a filmed production to bring the performance to the residents via Zoom. In 2021, Druid City Ballet expanded the program to take excerpts from The Nutcracker to additional retirement homes, Crimson Village and North River Village.
In 2021-22, Druid City Ballet worked with students from The RISE Center, a therapeutic program designed to educate and enrich preschoolers both with and without special needs. DCB taught Creative Movement to RISE three-to-six-year-olds; this project was partially funded by the Alabama State Council on the Arts. |
